As the energies surge, so do emotions. Perhaps you feel your emotions all over the place, or maybe you are confronted with those of others. You can “catch” other people’s emotions such as fear, anger, and frustration are energies without realizing it.
Being a Highly Sensitive Person, I have experienced this often and it can be confusing when you are unaware as you wonder what all the feelings and sensations you are experiencing are coming from. If you tend to be an emotional sponge, it’s vital to know how to avoid taking on an individual’s negative emotions or the heavier energies in crowds. Often we will be confronted with our own old emotional junk as we pick up on that of others. That’s how empathy works; we zero in on issues that are unresolved in ourselves. From an energetic standpoint, negative emotions can originate from several sources. What you’re feeling may be your own; it may be someone else’s; or it may be a combination.
Here are some tips that will help you to stop absorbing other people’s emotions:
- The very first step is to ask yourself: Is the feeling mine or someone else’s? A great help can be to state ”All that is not mine, be gone now!
- When you feel the feeling is not yours, it is important to bring some physical or mental distance between you and the other. You can do this physically by bringing some space between you and the source and then center yourself by breathing deeply a few minutes. You can also distance yourself mentally by seeing a membrane between you and the source that will only let love and positivity through.
- When you feel you have already absorbed other peoples negative emotions, ask Archangel Michael to cut these away from you and lovingly give it back to the other person within a wrapping of light.
- After you have been around heavy emotions or busy crowds, it is great to take a shower and ask the Angel to give you a Light shower at the same time.
- Use your heart as a cauldron of transformation. Bring the emotions and heavier energy in your heart and breathe love through it and have a sense of this love transforming the emotion into Light. You can use the Golden, Silver, Violet Flame to aid this proces.
- Once cleared, it is important to shield yourself. Again, you can ask Archangel Michael to help you with this by wrapping his deep blue cloak of protection around you. Another handy form of protection many people use, including healers with trying patients, involves visualizing a cocoon of white light (or any color you feel imparts power) around your entire body. Think of it as a shield that blocks out negativity or physical discomfort but allows what’s positive to filter in.
- Open up to positive people and situations. Surround yourself with people that love life, look at the bright side, have a lovely sense of humor or are hopeful by nature. Hope is contagious and it will lift you up.
- Spend a lot of time in nature. This will clear your own aura and help you stay grounded.
